Revolution and emptiness. Textualisation of tradition in Buddha’s little finger by Viktor Pielevin.

The article contains considerations on Buddha's Little Finger (known in Russia as Chapayev and Void) by Victor Pelevin, one of the most famous novels in postmodern Russian literature, and – in particular – on its relations with the myth of Vasily Chapayev as a hero of the Bolshevik Revolution and the Russian Civil War. The author shows different aspects of the Chapayev myth and studies how Pelevin deconstructs it in his novel. It is shown that Pelevin treats Russian culture in general and Soviet in particular as an attractive source of his auto-creation as a postmodern writer.
