Bewitching Central Europe: Geopolitical Space and Contemporary Ukrainian Literature

The following paper analyses selected motifs of space and topography in contemporary Ukrainian prose. The author views them from the perspective of post-colonial discourse which shows that both the Soviet and the post-Soviet age gave rise to some the-then typical patterns of spatial rhetoric valid in Ukrainian literature. The literature expert researches into the prose of inter alia Andrij Kurkov, Valerij Shevchuk, Yevhen Pashkovs'kyj, Serhij Zhadan and Yevheniia Kononenko with a focus on the writings and essays of Yurij Andrukhovych
